Every Friday, I go through the same ritual in the stocks I've been following for the last several months to see how they have performed for the week. The overall market indices have not done well this past week, I think that's clear to everybody. The most popular stocks that I follow, which I have listed below, show that 70% of them are higher for the week. I think that it is important to remember that trends can persist in individual stocks and are not generally influenced by the bigger indices. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) : + for the week Yahoo (NASDAQ:YHOO) : + for the week Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) : + for the week Exxon (NYSE:XOM) : + for the week United States Natural Gas (PACF:UNG) : + for the week Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) : + for the week Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) : + for the week Pandora (NYSE:P) : - for the week Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) : - for the week Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) : - for the week Out of these ten stocks, seven of them are higher for the week, despite the big pullback in the major indices. I believe that this confirms that trends can be very strong in individual stocks and remain positive while the overall market corrects.
